Dr Michailidou is a statistical genetic epidemiologist with extensive expertise in the analysis of large genetic and genomic datasets. She currently leads the Biostatistics Unit at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING). She has been involved in the analyses of large Genome-wide Association Studies in breast cancer through the Breast Cancer Association Consortium (BCAC) and identified a large number of the current known polymorphisms that are associated with breast cancer susceptibility. She has co-authored more than 100 publications in high impact journals and is a leading author of publications in Nature, Nature Genetics, Cancer Discovery, American Journal of Human Genetics and others. Current research interests include the development of polygenic risk scores, fine-mapping analyses, classification of Variants of Uncertain clinical significance (VUS) in cancer susceptibility genes and the statistical and bioinformatic analyses of Next Generation Sequencing data (NGS) for diagnostics and research purposes.
